The Challenge

Soundzipper was employed by Hong Kong Land Offices to conduct acoustic testing and analysis for their office lobby and meeting rooms. The client wanted the lobby and meeting rooms to have conducive acoustic environment to ensure employee productivity.

The Analysis

In order to achieve a holistic look for the ceiling, 4m long planks had to be used in the ceiling construction. The length of the planks posed a logistic issue and required delicate manoeuvring and care during installation.

The Design

The client chose to install a Topakustik 9/2M acoustic timber plank system for the ceiling. These narrow-grooved planks have ideal absorption in the speech frequency range. The RAL 9010 white colour was chosen by the designer for the planks to give the office a bright and consistent look. We had to integrate the design with a multitude of lighting, ventilation and mechanical fixtures. These were handled professionally with visible joint lines minimised.

The client was impressed with the aesthetic and performance outcome of the office and meeting rooms and elected to continue with the design choice of Topakustik panels to decorate the lobby and lift areas.
