The Challenge
The CPF Tampines Office engaged Soundzipper to ensure that their newly fitted workspace at 1 Tampines Central 5 provided a comfortable and productive environment for their team. Recognizing that excessive noise and poor acoustics can hinder efficiency and well-being, our mission was to assess and enhance the acoustic performance across various areas, including meeting rooms, event spaces, workstations, and specialized rooms like the nursing and training rooms.
The Analysis
To understand the acoustic landscape of the office, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation focusing on sound isolation, background noise levels, and reverberation time. We tested how effectively walls and partitions prevented sound from traveling between rooms to ensure privacy and minimize distractions. Measuring the ambient noise in different areas helped us confirm that it remained within comfortable levels conducive to work. Additionally, we assessed how long sound lingered in each space, aiming for optimal reverberation that supports clear communication without echo. Using advanced equipment like Class 1 Sound Level Meters and omnidirectional speakers, we gathered precise data to identify any areas needing improvement.
The Result
Our thorough assessment revealed that the office spaces met the desired acoustic standards. The partition between the Holding Area and Call Centre performed effectively, ensuring conversations remained private and reducing potential disruptions. Background noise across the office ranged from NC 24 to NC 44, aligning with typical office environments and contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. Reverberation times were within ideal ranges of 0.45 to 0.88 seconds, enhancing speech clarity and overall acoustics.
