The Challenge

Defence Technology Tower B sought Soundzipper’s expertise to ensure that their newly renovated spaces on Level 22 and Level 7 met top-tier acoustic standards. The challenge was to create a comfortable and productive environment across various offices, meeting rooms, and specialized areas. Excessive noise and inadequate sound isolation could hinder focus and collaboration, so our primary goal was to optimize the acoustics to enhance overall functionality and comfort.

The Analysis

To address these challenges, Soundzipper conducted a thorough evaluation of the renovated spaces. We assessed background noise levels in different areas and examined how effectively sound was isolated between rooms. By testing in fully furnished environments after construction, we accurately identified areas needing improvement to meet the client’s acoustic requirements.

The Design

To create an optimal acoustic environment, we implemented tailored solutions for each space:

• Minimizing Background Noise: In conference and meeting rooms, we focused on reducing ambient noise to ensure clear communication. Offices and phone booths were designed for quiet and privacy, enhancing focus and confidentiality. Waiting and co-working areas were treated to maintain comfortable noise levels conducive to collaboration.
• Enhancing Sound Isolation: We selected appropriate partition designs to prevent sound leakage between spaces. Critical areas like conference rooms and private offices were fitted with high-performance partitions to ensure privacy and reduce distractions. For less critical areas and corridors, we used partitions that balanced sound isolation with aesthetic appeal.
• Attention to Detail: Special care was taken in designing partition walls that included built-in wardrobes and personal assistant areas. By collaborating closely with the client, we ensured these features not only met the required acoustic standards but also seamlessly integrated with the overall design, contributing to a cohesive and functional workspace.
