The Challenge

Soundzipper was tasked with ensuring that the newly constructed office spaces at PSA Building Level 35 in Singapore provided an optimal acoustic environment. The primary objective was to verify that the spaces met the specified acoustic requirements for noise criteria (NC), reverberation time (RT), and noise isolation class (NIC). Achieving these standards was crucial for creating a comfortable and productive workspace for employees and visitors alike.

The Analysis

Our team conducted comprehensive acoustic compliance testing on April 1st and 6th, 2021. We evaluated various areas within the office, including board rooms, meeting rooms, phone booths, private offices, open workstations, corridors, and utility spaces. Each space was assessed against specific acoustic criteria tailored to its intended function. Using precise measurements and advanced equipment, we analyzed the ambient noise levels, reverberation characteristics, and sound isolation performance to ensure compliance with the required standards.

The Result

The testing confirmed that all spaces met or exceeded their acoustic requirements. Critical areas like board rooms and meeting rooms achieved the desired noise criteria, ensuring a quiet environment conducive to focused discussions. Reverberation times across all areas were within the specified limits, enhancing speech clarity and overall acoustics. The noise isolation assessments showed that partitions effectively minimized sound transmission, providing privacy and reducing distractions throughout the office.

The successful acoustic design incorporated full-height partitions, carefully selected doors, and strategic use of sound-absorbing materials like carpets and fabric panels. This comprehensive approach resulted in a well-balanced acoustic environment that supports various office functions, from private meetings to collaborative open spaces.
